Moremi Game Reserve is the best reserve in Africa, it is the first reserve to be established by locals, Batawana. The Batawana noticed a decline in the number of wildlife due to uncontrol hunting on their tribal land and cattle encroachment was another concerning factor. The Batawana people, under the leadership of Chief Moremi III’s wife, Mrs. Moremi took a deliberate decision to proclaim the Moremi Game reserve in 1963. Moremi Game reserve is situated in the middle of the Okavango Delta, Chief’s Island is renowned for its best wildlife sightings on the continent and diverse ecosystems. This makes for splendid game viewing and bird watching of over 400 species of birds, many migratory and endangered African Wild Dogs have been sighted roaming around freely. The Botswana government re-introduced both Black and White Rhinos. Moremi game reserve is approximately 3,900sq km, consisting of waterways, seasonal channels, and perennial flood plains. Moremi Game reserve is one the best destination for Tour operators and self-drive campers, it is advisable to combine it with Chobe National park.
